Product Profile of Satellite Stb Decoder
STMicroelectronics presents a low-cost, satellite set-top-box [STB] receiver/decoder chip [the ST15188] for high-volume free-to-air markets. The chip combines the functions of STs STV0288 DVB-S receiver and the STM5118 mass-market STB decoder.
The chip is implemented in 90nm process technology, and is incorporated with quadrature-phase-shift-keying [QPSK] demodulator along with audio digital-to-analogue converters [DACs] and VCXC.The integrated audio DACs offer direct connection to the TV input. The use of serial flash memory has reduce the number of I/O lines required am allowed the package size to be smaller PCB routing, is also simplified, with less chance of electromag netic interference [EMI] problems.
