This On-site metallography assesses the life of large structures and components in service [to observe the changes occurring in the metals micro-structure, over a period of time].
The Portable Metkit Metallography is a simple process; select a spot on a structure or component, for observing its micro structure. Prepare the spot first by grinding and then by polishing & etching [either mechanically or electrolytically]. The user can now directly observe or examine the surface through the portable microscope. The user can also make a replica of the micro-structure for preserving and further laboratory studies or on SEM [after sputter coating].
