R S Electronics offers inductive proximity sensor. Principle of operation: inductive proximity sensors provide an excellent means for detecting the presence of a wide range of metallic targets. This detection is accomplished without contacting the target and is mechanically wear free. In principle, an inductive proximity switch comprises a high-frequency oscillator circuit followed by a level detector and a post-amplification signal circuit and drives a buffered solid-state output. In effect, when a metallic object is brought within the effective range of the emitted filed of the oscillator. This amplitude shift is converted to a digital signal by the level detection [i.e., a Schmitt trigger], which drives a buffer stage. These are available in DC as well as AC, with various sizes from M8-M80, with various configurations and sensing distance. Industive micro box sensor, slot sensor, and any other types of sensor can be supplied as per the specific requirement.
