Sprint Electric Ltd, U.K., has introduced the extension of its SL/SLX 3-phase, 2- and 4-quadrant DC drive range to include models up to 115 kW at 460 V DC armature. There are three new models above 50 kW now available. These consist of SL/SLX65 [155 amps], the SL/SLX 85 [205 amps] and the SL/SLX 115 [270 amps]. The drives are designed to suit European and North American standards and are suitable for retrofitting on existing DC applications in addition to being a useful space saver on new machines. They incorporate a compact size DC thyristor controller with a foot print of only 410 mm x 204 mm, and a depth of 187 mm. Competitively priced, these new drives are suitable for a wide range of power supplies from 200 V to 480 V, 3 phase 45 Hz and can be used in the majority of countries throughout the world. On-board features include a fully regulated field bridge, which can be switched to give constant field current for accurate armature voltage feedback or automatic field weakening for extended speed control. Push-buttons or an external voltage signal controls the shaft direction. These versatile drives can be configured to any application through a comprehensive system of extra inputs and outputs whilst on-board presets provide control over all the important speed, current and voltage variables, etc.
